Saanjh (2017)

Set in Himachal Pradesh's beautiful Kullu valley, Saanjh follows Sanju, a 16-year-old city girl who becomes the target of fake social-media messages. When her father finds a compromising online video in which Sanju is allegedly featured, he sends her to live with her grandmother in their remote ancestral village. Sanju is lonely and depressed when he meets obnoxious house guest Jonga and finds unexpected comfort in his company. Unable to adapt to village life, she devises a plan to flee the village with Jonga's help, but she needs time to save enough money. Meanwhile, Sanju gradually comes to understand her grandmother's plight—living in seclusion with little interaction with her children—and a strong bond develops between them. When the grandmother becomes ill, the film focuses on a memorable Saanjh (evening) in which they are torn between light and darkness.
