Meghdhanushya (2013)

1h 53mins| Biography, Drama | 25th April 2013

The film depicts three periods of life: childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Tanmay is the protagonist, a gay guy who, as a child, adopted feminine behaviours that bothered his parents. They seek medical advice and use parental and social pressure to change their son's behaviour. He is pressured to marry when he is young, and his fellow college students mock him as "unique." He is eventually compelled to leave his house. The story then shifts to later in Tanmay's life, when he and Aniket adopt a child and name him "Shlok." The youngster grows up to be a great businessman, but his gay parents stay away from him in order to avoid societal stigma. Shlok meets Disha, a lady he wants to marry, but his parents' homosexuality stands in the way. In a style broken into three discrete tales, this film depicts the social hurdles faced by LGBT persons in Indian society.
